3. Energy balance in an organism. Gross (total) metabolism, basal metabolic rate, energy spent on the occupational labor, diet-induced ther-mogenesis.

4. Factors that influence the level of basal metabolic rate and of other energetic processes in a human organism.

5. Methods of determination of energy expenditure in an organism: direct and indirect calorimetry.

Lecture № 3. BASIC PHYSIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF EXCITABLE

TISSUES

1. Physiological properties of tissues. Concept of excitable tissues. Properties of excitable tissues: irritability, excitability, conductibility, lability, contractility.

2. Methods of study of excitability, objective characteristics of excitability (excitability threshold, latent period). Variation of excitability in one excitation cycle.
